They provided me with a free public transportation ticket, which was a great bonus for exploring the city. the location of the hostel was also excellent, with easy access to the train station and plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. I also appreciated the cleanliness of the showers and common areas.
the shared toilets had a strong odor of urine, which was unpleasant.

Only one piece of suggestion. For one more franc, you can stay at the nearby YMCA hostel, which is way more comfortable and clean. It is also much closer to the train station. This place literally feels like a prison with dark and drab interior. For the bathroom, water basically just stagnated and didn't drain at all, which was disgusting. Again, go to sleep at YMCA. I stayed there one year ago and I thought I was booking at the same place and I even walked to YMCA to check in until I found out that I was at the wrong place.

I think for the price offered it has been all very good. I booked a 8-bed room but in the end we were 2 girls only. The staff very helpful, especially the German at the Reception. Take your Laptop, you got also free Wlan there. A very nice detail is that you get a free ticket for one day to travel through Basel using all the public transportation.

I was pleasantly surprised by Basel Backpack's friendly staff who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The double room was clean and comfortable, and the shared facilities were well-maintained. The location, near interesting buildings and a local brewery, added to the overall experience. I highly recommend this hostel.

I was pleasantly surprised by the included mobility card, which made exploring the city so much easier. The location was convenient, with a tram stop right nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable for Switzerland. I would recommend this hostel for a convenient and budget-friendly stay.

The staff were really friendly and the location was quite convenient. The rooms were clean and although we had a ant infestation in the room we originally booked, then immediately moved us to a new room and took care of the problem.

Very nice setting in a repurposed factory site. Cosy cafes, restaurants, brewery, recreation options as neighbors. We spontaneously decided to stay another night 10 min before check-out because we liked it so much. And that wa totally fine with the staff. They were super friendly and flexible. Free wifi is fast (at least from our room) and I worked over the day from the patio. A ticket for Basel’s great public transport is also included in the price for all days of your stay. I’d definitely stay at Basel Backpack again.

This hotel is in a great area, somewhere behind the central station, which makes it very convenient for transport. The tram station nearby is a big plus. The rooms with 4 beds offer enough personal space and the beds are comfortable and wide. I also liked that the window could be left open for a while, allowing fresh air in.
All was okay.

The hostel is in a great location and has good facilities - beds are comfortable, staff helpful and knowledgeable and it is an ideal place to stay in Basel.
As usual with hostels, the cleanliness of the kitchen & shared resources (showers & toilets) depends on the other residents... and as so often happens, there were other guests who did not have much respect or consideration, leaving mess the kitchen & laundry areas & behaving as if they'd forgotten their mothers were also having a holiday somewhere else. The only solution to this problem is to have more staff around to remind people about their responsibility, which is not a realistic proposal, so I guess I just have to accept this as part of the deal with hostels!

Amazing stay! Loved the fact that we got a travel pass for free and could easily explore the city. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We appreciated being able to store our luggage and check out early. , having access to a communal kitchen was a great bonus and saved us money on eating out.
The noise level in our room, especially at night. The thin walls made it hard to sleep when other guests were talking loudly or moving around.
